About

JENNIFER ROCHE is a collage artist, poet, and writer who lives in Chicago, IL in the American Midwest.

Her first chapbook, "20," featuring erasure poems from Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, was published in 2020 by Alternating Current Press. It also includes several poems that won a 2016 Charter Oak Award Semifinalist for Best Historical Writing.

 

Her second chapbook, "The Synonym Tables," was published in 2021 by The Poetry Question and includes several pieces that were Pushcart Prize-nominated.

 

"During the pandemic, Roche deepened her collage practice. In 2022, she was accepted into Kolaj Magazine's Poetry & Collage Residency. Her artwork appears in PoetryXCollage, Volume1 and was exhibited in Woman Made Gallery's "Roe 2.0" exhibit in early 2023. 

Roche's poems and writing have appeared in Storm Cellar; Tule Review; Footnote: A Literary Journal of History (#2); Oyez Review; Rain, Party & Disaster Society; and Ghost Ocean. The Chicago Guild Literary Complex named her a “Writer to Watch in 2019 & Beyond.” 

Roche also founded the "Ode to Fury Found Poetry Workshop," which she first held at the Chicago Public Library and offers for other organizations. She has studied with the Poetry School, the Chicago School of Poetics, and Fran Quinn. Jennifer is also a past participant in Found Poetry Journal's POMOSCO events and Found Poetry Frontiers.
